The Ottawa Valley Bluegrass Music Association (Valley 'Grass) is a registered (1987), non-profit organization of folks just like yourself who enjoy listening to, playing, and supporting bluegrass music.
Valley 'Grass was formed in 1986 by Wayne Griese, and Sue & Ritch McCarthy. An earlier version of a bluegrass club had died out, so the three stepped forward, reorganized, and incorporated Valley 'Grass in 1987 to promote bluegrass music in the Ottawa Valley, Ontario, Canada.
From the start, Valley 'Grass was directly involved in bringing bluegrass music to a wider audience by staging picking parties, workshops, open stages, and concerts. Our current membership of 200+ families, includes fans, musicians, promoters, vendors, and friends of bluegrass music.
We organize monthly jams for members and visitors to the Ottawa Valley.
We hold a Winter Concert Series featuring the best of bluegrass music from Canada and the United States.
We are present at many Ontario summer festivals.
Our monthly newsletter, 'Grass Clippings, informs our membership about bluegrass events in Ontario, Quebec, Vermont, and NY state.
A calendar of bluegrass events is regularly e-mailed to members.
